An Elbert County Judge has sentenced a Parker man to forty days in jail for his part in the release of asbestos into the air.

Merit was indicted for falsely claiming to be a certified asbestos inspector in order to get work in a demolition project at a mobile home park in Elizabeth. According to the Attorney General, he then did the wrong tests to determine if asbestos was present, then delivered forged test results.
