Man sentenced to 298 years in prison for January 2013 crime spree

COLORADO SPRINGS -- A man was sentenced to 298 years in the Department of Corrections Monday. Ivan Stamps was convicted of multiple counts including Aggravated Robbery and Assault on a Peace Officer by a jury. Stamps began a crime spree on January 26th of last year by carjacking a station wagon and then robbing Joann Fabrics and King Soopers.

A state trooper tried to stop the stolen vehicle but Stamps refused to stop, instead abandoning the vehicle and then carjacking a Nissan Xterra. In the new vehicle, he attempted to rob the TCF bank on New Center Point. CSPD Officers located Stamps near Powers Blvd. and North Carefree Circle and was arrested after hitting several police vehicles and injuring two CSPD officers.
