DENVER (AP) - Authorities say a man was found dead near downtown Denver as temperatures dipped below freezing.

Denver police spokesman John White says the body was found on the 1300 block of Pearl Street just before 6 a.m. Saturday, but the coroner's office has not yet determined if the death was weather-related.

The temperature in Denver dropped to 31 degrees Friday night, and Lt. Phil Champagne, a spokesman for the Denver Fire Department, says the cold weather caught a lot of people off-guard.

The Denver Post reports the name of the man who died has not been released, and authorities say he may have been homeless.
