Police say a man called 911 from the back of a tractor-trailer after he jumped onto the truck as a bet with a drinking buddy, then traveled nearly 17 miles on an Ohio highway.
WCMH-TV reports that 24-year-old Brandon Farmer told a Fayette County dispatcher early Friday that it was a stupid idea and that he was "holding on for dear life" on U.S. route 22 near Sabina, about 50 miles southwest of Columbus. The Washington Court House man said he jumped onto the semitrailer as a "joke" when it was stopped at a red light.
A Sabina police officer pulled over the truck after spotting Farmer waving and hollering from its ladder. The driver was unaware of the extra cargo onboard. Sabina Police Chief Tom Little says charges are unlikely.
