Man pistol-whipped as his car is stolen

A man was hit in the head with handguns while his car was stolen in Colorado Springs Friday.

It was just after midnight; Colorado Springs police were called to Market St. and Wheeler Ave. A man told them an acquaintance had asked him for a ride, when they got there a man walked up to the car with a gun and told him to get out. When the victim turned, he saw that the acquaintance he had given a ride to was also pointing a handgun at him.

At first the victim didn't get out of the car, that's when the two suspects began hitting him in the head with their guns. The victim was pulled out of the vehicle and the acquaintance drove away in the suspect's car. The unknown suspect got into a black pickup truck, with a silver tool box in the bed, and drove away.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He should be okay.

Police describe the stolen car as a 2002 silver Grand Prix with unknown license plates. If you have any additional information about this crime, please call Colorado Springs Police at (719) 444-7000.
