A Texas prosecutor says a man accused of planting 36 explosive devices across east Texas caused fear that was "nothing short of domestic terrorism."

Prosecutor Brit Featherston says, "Today that fear stops."

Larry North was indicted yesterday on charges of possessing an illegal firearm or destructive device. He could face 10 years in prison if convicted. Authorities say they believe North dropped the explosives mostly into mailboxes out of anger with the federal government. They believe he acted alone. North remains jailed after a brief hearing today in federal court during which a judge granted his court-appointed defense attorney's request for a mental competency exam.
