ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) - Rocky Mountain National Park rangers have reached a 68-year-old Boulder resident who says he injured himself after sliding 30 feet on Longs Peak.

Rangers say they received a cell phone call from the man Friday reporting the fall. He said he stopped himself with an ice ax but injured his arm.

Rescuers began a tandem rappel and lowering operation Friday evening to bring him down the mountain before spending the night at the Chasm Lake shelter. They were carrying the man out on horseback Saturday.
