A man was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition after being hit by a car on Academy Blvd. It was at the intersection at Pikes Peak Ave, just before 11 p.m. Saturday.
Police found the injured man in the southbound lanes of Academy Blvd. Sgt. Brian Makofske of the Colorado Springs Police Department says they were able to get him going to a hospital almost immediately.
The impact damaged the front of the car, breaking the windshield. Police say they don't expect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in this accident.
The man who was hit was crossing the street, according to Sgt. Makofske; but he wouldn't release any more than that, saying they're still investigating what happened.
Southbound lanes of Academy Blvd. have been blocked off during this investigation.
