Man given life in prison for 1994 slaying

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Jurors in Boulder have convicted a Summit County man of first-degree murder in the death of a city employee in 1994.

The Daily Camera reports a judge sentenced Michael Clark to life in prison after the verdict was read Monday.

He was accused of killing Marty Grisham, who was shot on Nov. 1, 1994, after answering his door.

Clark was friends with Grisham's daughter and admitted stealing checks from Grisham's home around the time of the shooting but denied killing him.

Defense attorneys had argued that no hard evidence linked Clark to the crime, but prosecutors said Clark had the motive and means to kill Grisham. Prosecutors said Clark was worried his dream of joining the Marine Corps would be jeopardized if Grisham caught onto the check fraud.
