COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A man who confessed his role in killing an Iraq war veteran whose body was stuffed in a toy box in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to 36 years in prison.

The Gazette reports 39-year-old Peter Steven Miller Jr. apologized before he was sentenced Thursday in the death of 40-year-old Duane Maasch.

Prosecutors say Maasch was beaten and suffocated with a plastic bag in a dispute over a missing phone and stolen cash.

Prosecutors say Jason Jonathan Bomsta launched the attack on Maasch and Miller joined in.

Bomsta was sentenced to 54 years in prison. His wife, JoBeth Marie Bomsta, received a 16-year sentence. Christopher Anthony McKinley, who was accused of helping to hide the body, was ordered to serve six years of probation.
