Man found alive in park 24 hours

KITTRIDGE, Colo. (AP) - A man who disappeared while hiking in a county open space park has been found alive and is expected to recover from injuries suffered in a fall.

Jefferson County sheriff's spokesman Mark Techmeyer says rescuers found 74-year-old Bob Johnson Friday evening less than a mile into Lair O' The Bear Park west of Morrison. Techmeyer says Johnson had wandered into a treacherous area in the park and suffered a head injury when he fell on some rocks and boulders.

Techmeyer estimates Johnson spent about 36 hours in the park, including overnight Thursday. His wife had reported him missing Thursday after he failed to return from a day hike and she found his car in the parking lot of the popular park.
