CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - A 31-year-old man suspected of killing a mother and her two young children in a Canon City home is expected to plead guilty.
The Canon City Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/UKU9QT ) a motion filed Wednesday states Jaacob Van Winkle wants to plead guilty to all charges against him, including multiple counts of murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.
Van Winkle, a sex offender from Indiana, is accused of fatally stabbing 35-year-old Mandy Folsom, 9-year-old Marissa and 5-year-old Mason on March 9. Police were responding to a report of a sexual assault from a teenage girl when they found the bodies. The girl escaped and ran to a neighbor's home.
Investigators say Folsom and Van Winkle had broken up two weeks before the murders.
Van Winkle is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
