The Pueblo County Coroner says the suspect in a hostage situation in Pueblo West early Monday morning, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The coroner has identified the man as Greg Gilmore, 56.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's office says it received a 911 call at 5:40 a.m. from the victim. The woman told authorities someone was trying to break into her home, located on the corner of Linden Ave. and Purcell Blvd. Deputies say Gilmore broke into the house and held the woman hostage.

When deputies arrived at the home, they began talking to Gilmore through an open door. At 6:15 a.m. deputies heard two shots fired inside the home. They went inside and found the 56-year old man dead. Pueblo County Coroner Dr. James Kramer says Gilmore shot himself in the head at close range. The woman was not harmed.

The Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick tells News First 5 that there was a relationship between Gilmore and woman, but no further details have been released.
