Man charged with assault on a police officer

A Colorado Springs Police Officer was injured this afternoon as he tried to arrest a car theft suspect.
According to the police report, two officers saw a stolen car in the parking lot at the Citadel Mall around 2 p.m. They watched as two men got into the car.
The officers approached and told the men to get out of the vehicle. According to the report they refused, then backed up and went forward, hitting one officer twice, plus damaging a police car and two other vehicles.
The stolen vehicle was later found in the 1300 block of Kinsey Drive. Two suspects were arrested with the help of a police dog. Christopher Bayless, 22, is charged with auto theft and assault on a police officer plus several other charges.
The other man, Corey Mosely, was charged as an accessory.
