KUSA - A man is in jail Saturday morning after breaking into an Arapahoe County Sheriff's substation.

At 12:45 a.m., deputies getting off work noticed a door to the substation at 9200 East Iliff was broken.

Unsure of what had happened, the deputies call the substation and an unknown man answered the phone. He did not tell the deputies why he was there and did not cooperate.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the deputies were not sure if the man could be armed since he had access to cars and other equipment.

When the man refused to obey the deputy's commands, a K-9 dog was deployed and bit the man.

The man was treated at the hospital before being transported to jail. Authorities believe he was homeless.

No officers or animals were injured.

The case remains under investigation.
