Man arrested for allegedly raping woman

A Colorado Springs man is in jail after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and fighting with police officers.

31-year old Darrell Kion Innis was arrested Sunday afternoon after police said he sexually assaulted a woman at his apartment in the 2700 block of Arlington Drive.

According to police, when they arrived on the scene, Innis was very aggressive and refused to comply with their commands, physically resisting arrest and injuring two officers as they took him into custody.

The victim told police Innis had invited her to his apartment to "drink gin", once in the apartment the victim said Innis started groping her and then he allegedly raped her. She said she tried to fight him off but was unable to.

The victim's friends heard her screaming from inside the apartment and ran to her aid while distracting the suspect until police arrived on the scene. The victim says she had not met Innis prior to Sunday.

Innis was also arrested on suspicion of Sexual Assault, and Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer.
