Man arrested after a standoff with police

Colorado Springs, CO - Colorado Springs police made an arrest late Wednesday night after a short standoff.

Stetson Hills Patrol Officers were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to a residence in the 3000 block of Dublin Blvd regarding a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted a female victim along with 3 children inside the residence. Information was provided to officers that the male suspect was last seen in the lower level of the residence with a handful of ammunition and had access to a handgun.

The victim and her children were safety removed from the residence and contact was attempted with the suspect. The suspect refused to acknowledge numerous commands from officers to exit the residence.

At 9:44 p.m. containment officers located the suspect, Paul Gilman, who was armed with a 45 caliber handgun, partially hidden underneath a garden shed in the back yard of the residence. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for cold exposure. He was later booked into the Criminal Justice Center on misdemeanor Domestic Violence Charges and a felony charge of Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender.
