Maddie Garrett joins News 5 from Lafayette, Louisiana where she was a reporter and fill-in anchor for KOAA's sister-station, KATC. An award winning journalist, Maddie is News 5 Today's "Happening Now" desk anchor and reporter.
Maddie grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and attended the University of North Texas. She graduated from UNT with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Electronic News and Broadcast Journalism. Before moving to Louisiana, Maddie was a reporter and anchor in Sherman, Texas, at the CBS affiliate KXII. Maddie has won several Associated Press awards, including second place for Louisiana Associated Press Broadcasters Association's Reporter of the Year.
During her free time, Maddie enjoys anything outdoors from camping to hiking, biking and skiing.
