IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The highway to the top of 14,264-foot Mount Evans has closed for the season, from the lower portion of Colorado 5 to the top.
The Colorado Department of Transportation closed the upper portion of the highway from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans the day after Labor Day, per an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service.
It closed the lower portion between Echo Lake and Summit Lake for the season Wednesday, as scattered showers fell in the area.
The highway is scheduled to reopen May 27, weather permitting.
