Low cost rabies vaccine clinic this Saturday

Health leaders want to remind pet owners to vaccinate their animals against rabies. Several rabid skunks have been found in Pueblo in the past year and a half and the Pueblo City-County Health Department says rabies cases are on the rise throughout Colorado.

Health experts say vaccinations, which can usually last one to three years, are necessary to protect you and your pet. "Rabbies is a fatal disease. It can be passed to your animal if it isn't properly vaccinated against rabbies, then of course our fear is if the animal contracts the disease they can pass it to people," said Heather, Maio, Director of Environmental Health at the Pueblo City-County Health Department.

A low cost rabies vaccine clinic will be held at Pueblo Animal Services Saturday, March 26 from Noon to 4 p.m. The cost is $8 a shot (cash only).
