A local teen won big at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show in California this weekend.

Colorado Springs teen, Katie Mazurowski and her English Setter, Lamont took the top prize for the Junior Handler competition at the show.

Junior Handlers are judged on how they groom and handle show dogs, and Mazurowski was judged the best in the nation and will go on to represent the United States at the biggest dog show in the world, Crufts!

The top prize also came with thousands in scholarship dollars. Mazurowski is a Senior at Mesa Ridge High School.

The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is an annual event that brings in thousands of dogs and exhibitors looking for wins in one of the most prestigious dogs shows in the world.
