Final totals are still coming in for the Colorado Gives Day campaign; a statewide push to donate to local charities. So far, it looks like they pulled in about 12 million dollars this year.

The 2010 campaign was the first year, and they made 8.7 million dollars. However, most of the money went to Denver-area groups.

This year 19 Colorado Springs-area non-profits teamed up to host "giving stations" around town and generate more interest in the Pikes Peak region. They were able to increase local support by about four times to just over $127,000 at early counts.

At least five local organizations within the 19 that pushed for more support received more than $10,000 each:

CASA for the Pikes Peak Region - $10,000
Northern Churches Care - $15,654
Fostering Hope Foundation - $17,240
YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region - $23,325
Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care - $24,735

Organizers of the local team say they expect all of the totals to increase with late-counted donations still being tallied. They're very happy with the local generosity and they hope to do better next year.
