Local High School tracksters with good showing at State

The third and final day from Jeffco stadium in Lakewood saw a lot of Colorado Springs kids shining in the 400 meter dash.

In the 5a girls, Fountain Fort Carson's Rajon O'Quinn, a top finisher in the high jump Friday, had a lead but she's caught and passed by Heather Harrower. O'Quinn takes 2nd.

TCA's Brianne Hoglin and Lamar's Ashley Snyder looking for a 3A title but Eaton's Brittany Pierce runs away with it, literally, by nearly a full second.

A local winner in the boys version. The Classical Academy's Nick Deray takes the top spot and the 3A boys 400 meter state title.

"That last 100 meters, it's really all about like who wants it more," said Deray after the medal ceremony. "People start coming up on you and you got a choice right then to let them pass or just to keep going, and I'm happy I kept going."

Another win in from the area in the 5A girls 100 meter dash. Alleandrea Watt out of Pine Creek wins it with a time of 11.53 seconds.

The Fountain Fort Carson Boys win your 5A state team track and field title. The Palmer Ridge boys win the 4A.

TCA swept, winning the boys and the girls titles. Four of the ten championships are coming back to colorado springs.
