A former LPGA champion is celebrating her 50th anniversary. Shirley Englehorn's career brought dozens of people together in Colorado Springs Thursday, to celebrate her accomplishments.
Englehorn won 11 tournaments during her LPGA days, including the Major in 1970. After leaving the tour, she became a much sought after golf instructor.
"I've always been a golfer, 50 years of my life has been dedicated to it, whether it's been playing the tour or teaching," Englehorn says. She first picked up a golf club at the age of 5. Englehorn is rated among the top instructors in the country. She now teaches at the Kissing Camels golf club.
And volunteers are needed for the 2011 U.S. Women's Open, which will be played at the Broadmoor. The tournament runs July 4th through the 10th. Click here for more information, or to sign up as a volunteer.
