Buy and eat local food!

That's the message from organizers of this week's "Local Food Week." You can listen to lectures, attend events to benefit food banks and find specials at some local restaurants. "Nutritionally, if you're buying your food locally, you're getting it at the peak of its ripeness, the peak of its nutrition so you get the most bang for your buck," said Michele Mukatis, the event's organizer."

On Wednesday, learn how to live a low-carbon lifestyle at a free lecture at Conservation Hardware on Tejon St. from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. For more information on this event and others, log on to Peak to Plains.
