Local business needs your shoes

Spectrum Rehabilitation in Colorado Springs is hosting a Soles4Souls shoe drive until April 22nd.

Soles4Souls is a nationwide nonprofit that collects new and gently used shoes, and distributes them in the US and worldwide to people in need who don't have shoes, "Of course, right now a lot of shoes are going to Japan because of the disaster, but they also distribute to places in extreme poverty like inner cities and areas like Appalachia," explains Rebecca Gerstel of Spectrum Rehabilitation.

Soles4Souls goal is to collect 11 million pairs for distribution in 2011, and Spectrum Rehabilitation hopes to collect 5,000 in the Pikes Peak region.

Colorado Springs donation sites include:

The three Spectrum Rehabilitation Clinics
Runner's Roost
Both Colorado Running Company stores
Moody Insurance Company
Cheyenne Mountain Elementary School
Skyway Elementary School
Sidewalk's End Montessori School

They are also requesting a $1 donation per pair of shoes to help with shipping costs.
