Eight of the 30+ Bed and Breakfast Inns in the Pikes Peak Region are celebrating their "16th Annual Old Colorado City Bed and Breakfast Tour" on Sunday, December 5.
The tour is an "Inn-vitation" to share "A Few of Our Favorite Things" - the theme for this year's tour. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Old Colorado City Historical Society and Museum, located right next to Bancroft Park.
"It's time for Christmas and the holiday season and it's really a fun way to get a tour and a sneak peek inside all of the B&Bs in the area as well as help a very important organization here," said Sallie Clark, owner of the Holden House (www.holdenhouse.com) and El Paso County Commissioner.
The museum operates weekly free of charge, offering visitors a sneak peak at the history of the area. For instance, did you know that there were once working tunnels under the entire area?
"This started way back when, of course this was always the wild and wooley part of town," said Pat Fejedelem, owner of Our Hearts Inn. "So the nicer people from the other areas, we'll say more 'in downtown', they would come under here and go underneath in one of those tunnels and then they could come out and be in a bar or in one of those ill repute areas and no one knew it!"
News First 5 is a proud sponsor of the tour which will give you a unique perspective as you visit each of the eight B&Bs on display Sunday.
The event is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and tickets are $12. For more information on how to purchase tickets, visit www.history.oldcolo.com or email email@example.com. You can also call Jo Cervone at 719-636-1225 or Sallie Clark at 719-471-3980.
