Ten-year old sprinter Ashlyn Ventimiglia of Colorado Springs is this week's Brakes Plus Little Athlete.
Her close friends call her "Awesome Ashlyn" and she just started the fifth grade. And you could definitely call Ashlyn a natural born sprinter. She won a gold and bronze medal at this summer's Rocky Mountain State Games with no training whatsoever. She has only been running for about two weeks.
Her success at the games has motivated Ashlyn, who now says she wants to win a gold medal at the Olympic games someday.
"I'm very competitive, so I just run really fast," said Ashlyn. "If someone's in front of me, I try to run faster."
Her specialty is the 200-meter dash. Ashlyn is also a straight-a student. She wants to attend Stanford or Harvard when she's older. She also wants to be a forensic scientist in the FBI.
