Liquor store robbers lose their grip during getaway

Colorado Springs Police Officers from the Sand Creek Division responded to the 200 block of S. Academy Blvd. following the report of an armed robbery at a liquor store. As officers investigated they learned that a black male suspect of an unknown age, about 5' 4" tall wearing a goatee, black jacket, black jeans, and a black mask had entered the store while a second suspect, a white male who appeared to be in his mid-twenties stood outside the business.

The suspect who entered the store reportedly took alcohol and ran out of the store. The two were seen running southbound from the store. As the suspects were running, one of them, lost his grip on the bottle of alcohol that was taken as it fell and broke on the ground. A shop manager, who also witnessed the event, saw the male who was inside the store brandish what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun as they continued to run.

Patrol and K-9 officers attempted to track the subjects but were unsuccessful.
