A high jumper who just may be a state champ by the end of the high school track and field season is this week's "Loaf ‘N Jug High School Athlete of the Week." Congratulations to senior Kobi Rex from Lewis-Palmer high school.

At the recent Banana Belt Invitational in Pueblo Kobi kicked off the season with a jump of 6 feet 10.25 inches. That's a personal best for Kobi and a Lewis-Palmer record. It's also better than the 4A state meet record which Kobi hopes to break in May.

A very versatile athlete, Kobi also competes in the pole vault, long jump, relays and the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Please be sure to nominate your favorite athlete. Fill out the online form at NewsFirst5.com and watch News First 5 at 6:00 and 10:00 pm every Tuesday for the weekly winner.
