Levee artist November's Teachers First recipient

News First 5 congratulates Cynthia Ramu--November's Teachers First recipient.

Ramu is an art instructor at The Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences. She's known in the community for her creativity and generosity.

For more than a decade Ramu has organized of the annual Empty Bowls benefit in Pueblo. Each year she and her students serve hot soup to the public to raise money for non-profit agencies that help the homeless. Students hand craft the soup bowls in Ramu's art class.

Ramu has also worked with students on murals at the levee in downtown Pueblo.

Ramu has been recognized for her hard work and dedication over the years. In 2006, Ramu was named Art Educator of the year by the Colorado Art Educaiton Association. In 2005, Ramu was recognized as Outstanding Artist Educator by the Pueblo Arts Council.
