BEIRUT (AP) - Security officials in Lebanon say a powerful bomb that exploded in Beirut today killed five people, including a prominent pro-Western politician.
More than 70 people were wounded. Officials say the politician killed was a senior aide to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Hariri heads the main, Western-backed coalition in Lebanon, which is engaged in bitter feuding with the militant Hezbollah group, which is allied to Syrian President Bashar Assad.
