The Colorado Springs Street Division continues its annual stormwater cleanup effort this week to prevent the clogging of storm drains. Residents can drop off their leaves between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
These locations are subject to change in case of inclement weather and trucks may be gone for short periods of time to dump the leaves when the truck beds are full. Citizens may call Streets Dispatch at 385-5934 for information.
City crews will process only leaves, not plastic bags. Hazardous materials, branches and other items are not allowed. Leaves will be taken to the City Street Division's recycle yard and turned into compost, which will be available to citizens in the spring.
Drop off at the City Transit Depository has been cancelled for Dec. 4. An alternative is Rocky Top Resources, 1755 East Las Vegas Street. Rocky Top Resources takes leaves for recycling (residential only) on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Recycling is free with a canned good donation for Care and Share.
