A lot of people move to the county for peace and quietness, but until now there weren't any specific laws against loud noises in Pueblo County. Not anymore.

On Tuesday, Pueblo County Commissioners approved an ordinance that states excessive or unusually loud noises are a public nuisance punishable by law. The ordinance regulates loud vehicles, mufflers, stereos and other noises. It also requires homeowners and businesses to reduce their noise levels during evening and overnight hours.

Violators could face up to $300 in fines and 90 days in jail. The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office has been assigned to enforce the new law.
