WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says authorities will get to the bottom of Saturday's deadly shooting in Arizona. A somber-looking Obama faced cameras in the White House and deplored the deaths of a federal judge, a nine-year-old girl and at least three other people. He called Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords a friend and said she is battling for her life.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's heartbroken by the shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others in Tucson and says the whole state is saddened. The Republican governor was at the state Capitol preparing for her annual address to the Legislature when she received word of the shooting. Brewer spoke with reporters after talking with President Barack Obama.
