NEW YORK (AP) - There's a simple way for Congressman Anthony Weiner to prove his claim that he didn't send a racy photo to a female college student from his Twitter account. But it's a step he has refused to take so far. If law enforcement were asked to investigate, they could get information from Twitter to show the Internet addresses from which his Twitter account was accessed. But the New York Congressman has so far declined to ask for an investigation, saying it's an unworthy use of government resources.
And the U.S. Capitol Police says it won't launch a probe unless it's asked. Weiner has asked a private security firm to investigate - but such companies can't obtain a subpoena or court order to get Twitter to hand over such information.
