A large number of students are out sick at Canon City Middle School on Thursday. The Fremont County Public Health Department is working with the state health department and Canon City Schools to gather samples to have students tested for H1N1.

The superintendent of Canon City Schools, Rboin Gooldy, said 70 students, 12% of the school's population, are absent with flu-like symptoms. Parents are all reporting fevers in their kids. Gooldy says the elementary and high school have normal absentee rates. He also says that the middle school is being thoroughly disinfected each night.
