Congressman Doug Lamborn said Wednesday that he supports the recent move by Rocky Mountain PBS to take their membership drive door to door. The Republican lawmaker drew national attention earlier this year when he called for the elimination of public funding for PBS.
A statement from the Congressman released to News 5 reads:
"I support PBS's latest efforts in Colorado Springs to raise money through voluntary contributions. I have always believed that PBS offers high-quality programming that can compete on its own without taxpayer subsidies. I have personally contributed to Rocky Mountain PBS and hope those who enjoy their programs will also contribute."
Earlier this month Lamborn appeared in a public service announcement with Rocky Mountain PBS President and CEO Doug Price encouraging viewers to become members.
In the ad Price reveals that Lamborn personally supports the station through private donations. Lamborn also says he recognizes "the vital role that Rocky Mountain PBS plays in Colorado media."
