La Veta is celebrating its 150th birthday this weekend and you are invited to the party.

It all began with the Francisco Fort, a trading post founded by Colonel John Francisco in 1862.
The Fort was turned into a museum in the 1950's.

The celebration will begin with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. in front of the La Veta Library, then a huge parade will travel down Main Street at 11 a.m. followed by various activities, demonstrations, vendors all day at the Francisco Fort History Museum, which will have free entry for everyone on that day.
