LOS ANGELES (AP) - A staff member in the Los Angeles mayor's gang-reduction office has been arrested on suspicion of attacking police officers during a scuffle at a nightclub.
Police Lt. Jim Gavin says Blanca Martinez-Navarro was booked early Sunday for battery on a peace officer. Similar charges were filed against her husband, Oscar Navarro.
Gavin says police responding to a call about a domestic disturbance at the Conga Room were attacked by the husband. He says as police were taking Navarro into custody, Martinez-Navarro jumped on an officer and hit him. Both are held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
A call to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office was not immediately returned Sunday.
