ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Two out of the three active members of the Krabloonik Veterinary Advisory Council have resigned over continued allegations of animal abuse at the dog-sledding operation.
As a result, the council has disbanded.
According to the Aspen Daily News, local activists and dog lovers have for years criticized the conditions in which Krabloonik's 200 or more dogs are kept.
Activists said the sled dogs at the Snowmass Village kennel are sometimes chained up for the entire seven-month off-season, when they're not pulling sleds. They also say the animals have been beaten.
