Kindergarten teacher keeps kids interest by not sitting still

During the course of a school year the development of kindergarten students is dramatic, and at Piñon Valley Elementary, it's teacher Stacey Huff's job to foster that change.

Our November Teachers First Award recipient says watching the kids progress through the year the most rewarding parts of her job.

"Conferences are my favorite because I save papers all year long, from every month, and I bring them out with the parents and we spread them out and we say 'Wow, look they could barely write their name and now they can write a whole sentence, with a period at the end!'" Huff said.

She admits that it can be a challenge to keep the attention of class of students who are so young. So, she changes topics every 15 minutes to keep the children's' interest.

"I love that we keep on moving all the time. There's not a time to sit down and work on the computer or anything, we're movin'," Huff said.
