Kids made cards and said thank you to their first responder heroes Friday morning in downtown Colorado Springs.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney hosted the free event which also featured a child safety fair. The El Paso/Teller County 911 bus was open to train kids on what to do in case of a fire and how to escape. A mock stove and kitchen lit up with pretend flames. Used for practice purposes, a fire extinguisher shot a green laser, instead of fluid, that "put out" the fire.

Kids also got fingerprints made for their parents to keep on record.
