Jose Humberto Garcia woke up in a jail cell this morning. The 29-year old is accused of kidnapping 9-year old Calysta Cordova from Columbian Elementary School in Pueblo on Thursday afternoon. Her abduction prompted an Amber Alert, but she was eventually found safely in Colorado Springs.
Garcia is facing two felony charges: second degree kidnapping and sexual assault by a person in a position of trust.
Police say Garcia and Cordova stopped at a Circle K convenience store in Colorado Springs Friday, morning when Cordova took matters into her own hands. The girl went inside and called 911. She was rescued and later reunited with her family.
Garcia was captured a few hours later a bus terminal in downtown Colorado Springs. He's being held at the Pueblo County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
