Bennet wins, Buck Concedes

It was a long election night Tuesday where Senatorial opponents Ken Buck and incumbent Michael Bennet were stuck in a neck and neck race. Early Wednesday Bennet pulled out a victory by only around 15 thousand votes. "I was watching the earlier polls and I thought it wasn't going to be as close as it was." says Colorado Springs resident Steve Hummell, "But I was kind of surprised to see that."

In his victory speech at Denver's city park, Senator Bennet called for cooperation between conservatives and liberals and says he's ready to get back to work. "I'm not going back to Washington to play politics." He told the crowd of supporters, "I'm going back there to fight for more jobs and better jobs... For a clean energy economy and for 21st century education for every child."

While Buck did not address the media Wednesday, he did release a brief statement in which he said he called Bennet to congratulate him on a hard fought campaign. Buck's short statement read, "My senate campaign has been the experience of a lifetime. I will be forever grateful to the thousands of Coloradans who helped make this grassroots journey possible."
