Kelly Duffy To Join News 5 as News Director

She's been an important part of the success behind the number one NBC affiliate in Monterey/Salinas, California for 13 years, and now Kelly Duffy is set to join News 5 as News Director, beginning December 2, 2013. Evan Pappas, President and General Manager of KOAA, made the announcement today and welcomed Duffy as an Emmy Award winning journalist with a track record of delivering number one ratings.

Duffy has a depth of experience in political and investigative reporting, as well as a strong background in education and crime reporting. She also anchored a top-rated newscast at KSNW in Wichita, Kansas.

"In addition to her other strengths, Kelly has been recognized for excellence in delivering breaking news on multiple platforms in life threatening situations," said Pappas. "With the unprecedented string of natural disasters and news stories with national significance here in recent years, it's that type of experience in the news trenches we'll rely upon. She also has experience working in markets with diverse populations and military communities. Her commitment to community stewardship and journalistic excellence is a perfect fit for News 5 and Southern Colorado."

News 5's present News Director, David Randall, is transitioning into a newly created Director of Multi Media position at the station and will assist Duffy and the news department in all things digital. "The increasing importance of News 5's online and mobile consumption has made it critical to have an experienced news manager dedicated to this growing part of our news offerings," said Pappas
