A warning for parents, ‘tis the season where more kids have access to alcohol.
Colorado Springs Police are asking parents to keep track of their alcohol this holiday season. When there's more of it around, like during parties, there's more for your kids to take.
Police say it seems that's where most of it is coming from, the parents.
"You have some (minors) that buy them (alcoholic drinks) at the liquor store but overwhelmingly where kids get liquor is their parent's liquor cabinet or at a friend's house," says Sgt. Dennis Dougan with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Dougan added that keeping alcohol away from kids is important to think about now because of all the holiday parties, but, he also says this is a problem we should pay attention to all year.'
"If the parents can keep tabs and prevent the kids from getting the liquor to begin with, it can solve a whole bunch of problems," Dougan says.
