CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A judge has denied a request from prosecutors in the Colorado theater shooting to redact court documents that have already been made public.

The judge's ruling, released Thursday, didn't identify the documents or indicate why prosecutors wanted to redact them.

Arapahoe County District Judge William B. Sylvester said lawyers must file a motion citing an appropriate legal authority if they wanted to redact a document already made public.

James Egan Holmes has been charged with murder and attempted murder in the July 20 shootings that killed 12 and injured 58 at an Aurora theater.

Many documents and facts in the case have been kept out of the public eye under Sylvester's orders.

Sylvester previously ordered redactions in one documents detailing Holmes' medical records after they were inadvertently made public.
