The man convicted of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams has lost his initial bid for a new trial.
Denver District Judge Christina Habas turned down the request Tuesday from Willie Clark. Clark was convicted last month of first-degree murder in Williams' death on New Year's Day 2007.
Clark faces life in prison at his sentencing hearing on Friday. His attorneys asked for a new trial last week, alleging jury misconduct. Among other things, they say a juror received a text message about the case during deliberations.
Habas says the attorneys didn't establish adequate grounds to attack the verdict.
