A municipal judge has been fired for issuing an arrest warrant for a teenager who had an overdue library DVD.

Police handcuffed 19-year-old Aaron Henson and held him for nearly eight hours after a traffic stop Jan. 25. Judge James Kimmel had issued an arrest warrant after Henson failed to show up in court Jan. 14 on the overdue DVD, House of Flying Daggers.

Henson had moved and had placed the DVD in a box. He had returned the DVD to the library about a week before Henson issued the arrest warrant.

The Littleton City Council fired Kimmel at its meeting Tuesday night. Kimmel declined to comment when reached by The Denver Post.
